Our Process

The design process is more complex than many people think, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun and interesting too. At Typo3 USA, we have developed a simple process by which we plan, design, and produce a website.  We use OpenSource Tools in most every aspect of the process - allowing our clients to spend less and receive more.

1. The Initial Consultation

These meetings usually take place over the phone or using free tools like Skype or Google Chat, and take about a half hour. They are free and without obligation.

This quick fact finding mission and exchange of information is meant to help us decide if we are a good match for each other in terms of your organizations unique needs. We can usually provide you with a rough estimate of costs within 24 - 48 hours after our discussion.

2. Proposal / Estimate Preparation

Congratulations! Choosing the organization that will help you design and build your website is an important step.   After Choosing Typo3USA . For a more accurate estimate, we need more detailed information. If you already have a company logo or company brochure this is usually a great place for the design process to begin. If not, we'll start together from square one. We also ask that you complete our Creative Branding Brainstorm Form, which we will send you by email.

Armed with your completed Creative Branding Brainstorm Form and any collateral materials you supply, we'll prepare a proposal for your website project including a cost estimate.

3. Signing of Agreement / Deposit

Typo3USA will prepare a contract including a detailed description of the planned project and the final cost of design, development and any other services you have requested.

Upon signing the contract, 50% of the total estimated cost is due. We then start the design process.

4. Content Gathering

Any text content, graphics and photos that you wish to be included on the site should be submitted toTypo3USA via email or ftp unless photos need to be scanned.

5. Page Layout Draft

Once the graphics and other content elements are in our studio, page layout and visual design begins. We take your ideas, concepts, photos and logo and produce at minimum two custom designed web page mock-ups for you. Then we'll work with you to refine your chosen design.

6. TemplaVoila - Coding of Template Begins

Once Typo3 USA has the approved page design - Our Team will build the template(s) for your site. Text and graphic content is added and adjusted for a perfect layout.  You can choose to have our staff enter all your content or add your own using a default template prior to having to wait for this stage to begin.

7. Site Testing

The site is thoroughly tested on a wide variety of web browsers and environments to ensure functionality, usability and quality. While your site is still on our staging server, you'll have another chance to review it for any minor changes or corrections.

We test all sites using IE6, IE7, Firefox 2.x, 3.x Beta, and Safari (MAC) Browsers.   We also test using these browsers on a variety of Operating Systems including Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Server 2003, as well as MAC and Linux (CentOS).

8. Site Launch

Once Typo3USA has completed the build of your project - and your organization has approved - final payment is due.   Upon receipt of the payment - the website is loaded to your hosting server of choice or you may continue to utilize Typo3USA for hosting using our free 90 day hosting option.  We suggest you continue using the free 90 day option to allow easy access for any changes that may arise.

9. Ongoing Maintenance

Typo3USA is pleased to first have been chosen to build your project.  Should your organization require additional options or maintenance, such as upgrades or new development - we would be happy to be involved.  Depending upon the need - we may require a new Process to begin - but chances are we can work right from where we left off.
